Graduate School of Advanced Training in Metabolomics

The Scuola Permanente di Alta Formazione in Metabolomics is a project of the Laboratorio Analisi Val Sambro in Bologna, which offers advanced courses to improve the understanding and use of Metabolomics.

Dedicated to health and research professionals, our aim is to provide the necessary skills to understand and apply metabolomics in clinical and research practices, contributing to the development of personalised medicine and the management of complex diseases.

What is Metabolomics?

Metabolomics is the comprehensive study of metabolites, molecules produced in the biological processes of a living organism. These metabolites represent the output of cellular reactions and are continuously subject to transformation into other molecules. The metabolome, i.e. the set of metabolites at a given time, is highly dynamic as it changes in response to environmental conditions and the physiological state of the organism. Metabolic pathways, in which reactions occur sequentially, are divided into catabolic (degradation of complex molecules) and anabolic (synthesis of new molecules).

Metabolomics, through advanced technologies, makes it possible to identify and quantify these metabolites, providing a global view of cellular activities in an organism. It is an emerging science that can provide key data for understanding physiological responses to disease, drugs or environmental changes. This discipline plays a crucial role in personalised medicine, as it makes it possible to identify individual-specific metabolic variations, facilitating more accurate diagnoses and targeted therapies.

With this in mind, during the school's work, particular space will be given to:

Microbiome analysis: The correlation between metabolites produced by the gut microbiota and chronic diseases.

Biochemistry of cellular processes: Study of metabolites that regulate processes such as inflammation, cell growth and energy metabolism.

Precision medicine: Application of metabolomic data to optimise drug therapies

The Role of Functional Medicine

One of the central points of our approach is the integration of functional medicine in the treatment of chronic disorders. This approach focuses on the underlying causes of disease rather than simply managing symptoms. With the help of Metabolomics, practitioners can identify biochemical imbalances and nutritional deficiencies that contribute to chronic problems, such as autoimmune diseases, metabolic disorders and systemic inflammation.

How to Access the Permanent School of Advanced Training in Metabolomics

La nostra offerta formativa prevede corsi in FAD (Formazione a Distanza) sia in modalità asincrona sia sincrona.
In particolare, offriamo:

Courses with CME credits

Aimed at doctors, biologists and other health professionals in need of continuous professional development. These courses are accredited and provide the necessary CME credits.

Courses without CME credits

Training accessible to all who wish to further their skills in the field of metabolomics without the need for official accreditation.

Why choose our School?

The Permanent School of Higher Education in Metabolomics offers a unique, comprehensive and structured training in this emerging discipline. Our teaching staff consists of experts in the field with years of experience in research and clinical practice, guaranteeing a high level of education and constant updating on the latest scientific findings.
